General Terms and Conditions :

-  Al Ratab (half-ripe dates) must be locally produced in the UAE in 2016. -  Fully ripe dates are not accepted in the competition.

-  The produce must be from the farm of the participating owner.

-  The participant must provide the farm ownership documents when registering.

-  Each participant is allowed to take part in two categories, except for Nukhba, which is open for all.

-  Winners of previous editions are not allowed to participate in the promotion round of Al Nukhba.

-  70% of the grading points will be decided according to the quality of the dates submitted for participation. 30% of the grading points will be considered after the inspection of the farm, and in accordance with the general hygiene, the preservation of the palm tree through the appropriate pruning, the use of modern irrigation methods to save water, and commitment to the deadlines for the submission of samples, according to preset categories and dates that will be announced later.

- Al Nukhba participants must take part with no less than 15 varieties and no more than 20, with a weight that should be no less than 3kg for each variety.

- In Al Nukhba promotion round, participants should submit between 10 and 15 varieties, with a weight that should not be less than 3kg for each variety.

- Al Ratab must be free from infections, parasites, and insects, their eggs, their larvae, and their waste.

- Al Ratab must be free from apparent flaws.

- Al Ratab must not have an unusual smell or taste, and must be free from metal and sand impurities, such as a scratch mark.

- Al Ratab must be of a suitable and acceptable size.

- Al Ratab must not include unripe fruits.

- The product must be free from pesticide residues and chemical fertilizers (the winning entries will be checked in a laboratory).

- The Ratab submitted for participation in all the categories of the competition must be provided in Mukhrafa (a basket made of palm leaves).

- The weight of the product should not be less than 10kg in single variety categories.

- Participants can use more than one Mukhrafa in all competitions.

- Participants must accept the jury’s decisions.
